Mathias de Breyne

Born in Lyon, Mathias is writer, scenarist and translator.

In his day to day life, being a father, contemplating nature and writing are closely knit together.

He lived in Paris, in the USA, in Argentina, in Barcelona and finally settled in France in the Pyrénées.

Well-known writer in general literature and parenting books, Mathias has been published by Hachette, Hatier, Magnard, Belfond… He even writes for the famous newspaper Le Monde. Two of his picture books are available at Magnard jeunesse : Les animaux ne sont pas obligés and Dans la peau de mon papa, both illustrated by Charles Dutertre.

Mathias also makes projects for the cinema: he wrote with his sister Elsa de Breyne a first script entitled Un asticot dans la salade, which she will direct.

Today, Mathias has many projects: a film in development in 2022 with Tchéky Karyo in the leading male role, a TV documentary project on fathers as well as a web series based on a caricature and parody of personal development... One of his children's books may be adapted into a series. On the writing side, Le Monde diplomatique commissioned him to write a fiction about Buenos Aires.

A great lover of travel, his escapades allowed him to discover and translate the poets of the Beat et Baby Beat Generation, Anthologie bilingue. Il a découvert, traduit et organisé la publication en France la BD inédite La racine de l’ombú, du célèbre écrivain Argentin Julio Cortázar et du dessinateur Alberto Cedrón.

Together we are working on new picture books and a comic. Ecology and protection of the environment are recurring themes in those very modern texts, all very poetic and tender as well. If you are interested, please reach out at contact@revesdejeunesse.fr.
