How is an agent paid?

We are paid directly through royalties once the book is published: we do not ask for additional advance payment from our writers or illustrators. We are paid a percentage of everything the author earns, a percentage that varies with the type of book, the format and the amount of work.

Picture books, non fiction children’s books and other illustrated formats

15% if the text is already illustrated

If the text is already illustrated, and if the writer and the illustrator are two different persons, a contract will have to be concluded with both the writer and the illustrator. Please note that an already illustrated book is usually more difficult to publish. 

Children’s novels and novels that are either science-fiction, fantasy or the fantastic genre

10 %

15% if the text is above 500 000 signs space included

20% if the text is above 850 000 signs space included
